Gender Equality Plan of the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Lemesos)

The Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Lemesos) recognizes the importance of achieving gender equality in building a just society, where all individuals enjoy equal rights, equal opportunities, and share equal responsibilities. The Organisation firmly believes that eliminating gender inequalities in all areas of human experience is intrinsically linked to sustainable development, fully embracing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations with a target year of 2030.

In particular, with regard to gender equality in the workplace, EOA Lemesos is committed to ensuring Equal Opportunities between Men and Women and Non-Discrimination in Employment. Beyond mere compliance, it is internationally recognized that reducing the gender gap in the labor market results in economic benefits and contributes to overall economic growth.

In this context, EOA Lemesos acknowledges both the importance and the benefits of gender equality in the workplace and is committed to advancing this goal through the development and implementation of a Gender Equality Plan, tailored to the Organisation’s specific needs. This plan includes a series of important actions the Organisation intends to implement — including initiatives already underway.

The implementation of the Gender Equality Plan represents a firm commitment to creating a fair and inclusive working environment. Through cooperation and the commitment of all stakeholders, the Organisation aims to become a model of equality and sustainable development.

The Gender Equality Plan was approved by the EOA Lemesos Council during its 22nd Session, held on August 4th, 2025, and has entered into immediate effect.
