Green Points

The Minister of Interior, exercising his powers under Article 45 of the District Self-Government Organisations Law (37(I)/2022), approved the decision of the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Lemesos) to assign the operation of Green Points in the Limassol District to the Limassol Waste Management and Exploitation Board (SEDAL) until 2027, or until all remaining waste management responsibilities are transferred to EOA Lemesos, should this occur earlier.

For further information on SEDAL operations, visit:

Green Points are designated facilities where citizens can dispose of their household waste of daily use. Waste should preferably be pre-sorted by category before disposal in the designated collection bins. The collected pre-sorted waste is then forwarded to Recycling or Waste Processing Units for proper environmental management. This process significantly reduces illegal waste dumping, minimises landfill waste, and contributes to increasing recycling rates. Additionally, Green Points serve as educational centres, informing citizens about the benefits of proper waste disposal, resource conservation, and cost savings.

Waste Acceptance Procedure

At the Limassol Green Points, pre-sorted waste from the local population (household origin) is accepted free of charge at the entry gate (gate fee), in accordance with the waste categories listed in the waste table. Waste must be sorted into the appropriate categories before arrival to allow for inspection and proper disposal in the designated collection bins at the Green Points. Under no circumstances will mixed waste, organic kitchen waste, or waste from Commercial Activities or Business Premises be accepted. Additionally, waste from disassembled household electrical appliances, such as refrigerators without compressors, washing machines without motors, and plastic air conditioning components, cannot be accepted.

If you are unsure about the category of waste you wish to dispose of, please contact the Green Points in advance for clarification.
