On 11 February 2025, a training seminar was held relevant to the provisions of the Fire Protection Regulation for buildings and the principles to be applied in building design to ensure compliance with the regulation.
The seminar was presented by representatives of the Cyprus Fire Service, including Fire Officer Ms. Nedi Erotokritou, Chief Firefighter Ms. Maria Perikleous, and Fire Engineer Mr. Spyros Spyrou. Attendees included staff from the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (LDLGO), primarily officers from the Licensing Directorate.
Given the new procedure implemented last November, under which low-risk buildings are exempt from mandatory consultation with the Fire Service, and the consultant submits a Self-Assessment Form (checklist) as a fire protection study, which the Competent Authority must review, the seminar focused on the process and steps that Licensing Technicians and Officers must follow to correctly assess applications in accordance with the parameters of the Fire Protection Regulation.
