The Limassol-Amathus Sewerage Board (SBLA) has launched a tender for the construction of the public wastewater sewerage system within the following nine (9) Government Housing Settlements/Self-Housing Settlements located in the wider urban and suburban area of Limassol:

• Moutayiaka Self-Housing Settlement
• Ayia Fyla Self-Housing Settlement
• Pano Polemidia (Karmiotissa) Self-Housing Settlement
• Kato Polemidia (West of Nikaia Street) Self-Housing Settlement
• Kato Polemidia (East of Nikaia Street) Self-Housing Settlement
• Ayios Nikolaos Settlement
• Ayios Ioannis Settlement
• Ayios Spyridonas Settlement
• Omonia Settlement

Following an evaluation of the submitted tenders, the contract was awarded to the MEDCON-TEKAL (F1) JV Consortium. The contract signing between SBLA and the awarded Consortium took place on 15 September 2023.

The contract value amounts to €12.8 million plus VAT. The construction cost of the public sewerage network in settlements located within municipal areas will be funded by the Department of Town Planning and Housing. For settlements located in communities, the cost will be covered by the Water Development Department. The administrative costs of the project will be covered by the SBLA.

Construction works began in mid-February 2024 and are expected to last 30 months. The project involves the construction of approximately 44 km of sewerage pipelines, serving over 3,200 properties.

A separate tender is also being prepared for the construction of private sewerage systems within individual properties. These works are expected to begin within 2024 and be completed within 36 months. The construction cost of this contract will be fully covered by the Department of Town Planning and Housing.
