Teachers from public and private schools can participate in the Competition by supporting student teams in developing their projects.
The Competition is open to students from Lyceums and Technical Schools.
Each team can consist of one or two students.
Yes, this is possible under certain conditions. Each school may submit more than one project, provided that the supervising teachers are able to provide adequate support and guidance to each team. Each student may participate in only one team.
No. Participation is not limited to teachers of a specific subject. What matters is your willingness to guide your students in developing a scientifically grounded project.
Indicative subject areas include Technology, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Projects may come from the natural sciences or social sciences, as well as areas such as sports, health, art and music.
No. A project can begin with a real problem or challenge related to water. The idea and proposed solution can be developed gradually through research and collaboration among the students.
Projects should address real water-related issues and be based on a research-based and scientific approach. They may focus, among other areas, on water quality and management, the protection and conservation of water resources, water and wastewater treatment, as well as the social and environmental dimensions of water.

Projects may focus on local, regional, national or global issues. If the research focuses on a particular local area, the project should also consider and demonstrate how the proposed approach could be applied on a broader, global scale.
It is important to demonstrate the potential for wider application, alongside its relevance and application at local level.
The project must be submitted in English, in accordance with the requirements of the international Stockholm Junior Water Prize.
Yes. The project presentation before the Jury is conducted in English. Students will have the opportunity to present their research and idea and answer questions from the Jury.
The teacher acts as a guide and mentor, helping students ask the right questions, organize their research, evaluate their findings, and develop their own unique approach.
The time required depends on the nature and scope of the project. Preparation can take place gradually, in collaboration with the student team.
The preliminary expression of interest must be submitted by Friday, 27 November 2026.
Completed projects must be submitted by 26 March 2027.

Yes. EOA Limassol is available to support teachers through direct and regular communication. Whenever needed, information and guidance will be provided for the different stages of participation, and any questions that may arise will be addressed.

Projects are evaluated by the Jury according to the official Competition criteria. The shortlisted teams will be invited to present their projects before the Jury at a special event on 24 April 2027.
Yes. The presentation will be supported by a slideshow in PowerPoint format, with a maximum of 6 slides, in landscape orientation.
The winning team will be announced during the special ceremony held as part of the second stage of the National Competition on 24 April 2027.
The winning team will represent Cyprus at the International Final of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Stockholm.
The travel and accommodation expenses of the winning student team and the supervising teacher are covered by the Water Museum of EOA Limassol.
Throughout their trip, the teacher and student team are accompanied by a designated EOA Limassol officer with extensive experience in accompanying winning teams at the international Competition. The officer provides practical support and coordination throughout their stay and takes care of any practical needs that may arise during their time in Stockholm.
